CRIMTA
The Centre
The Interdepartment Multimedia Centre for the Research on Ancient Drama (CRIMTA) was found in 2000 at the University of Pavia, through the cooperation of the Department of Classics and the Department of Informatics.
The aim of the Centre is to promote multidisciplinarity in the study of Ancient Drama, by combining literary and historical analisis of the texts with the study of the reception of classical drama within the contemporary theatrical practice and culture. Researching activity is accompanied by indivual or workshop projects for the re-writing of ancient plays and the development of digital supports for the study of contemporary performances of classical drama.
The Centre consists of a multimedia database, collecting sources (video, photos, magazines, monographs) on the modern performances of classical theatre, as well as of a Workshop on Ancient Drama, organizing annual seminars and meetings either on specific texts or on general themes related to ancient Greek theatre.
